Stealth Mechanic

About the Project

I started this project when I was 11, and I had decided that I wanted to become a game developer and had heard that C++ is the most used and accepted language in the industry. Therefore I decided that C++ in UE4 was what I wanted to learn, and to do this I first explored YouTube and found a video I liked by someone called Tom Looman, and I also found out he had a course to learn C++ on Udemy. As soon as I found this out I remember begging my parents to buy I for me and this was the mechanic that course taught you to make. Whilst it was quite a basic project it fuelled my love for game development and strengthened my dream to make it a career which is arguably more important than it’s contents. Even then it taught me how to make a collectible object, craft and update objectives and most importantly incorporate AI. This included line of sight and audio, with status symbols above them to communicate their current state to the player and taught me as a developer how to craft levels and mechanics that for the player to use problem solving in order to finish the level, which is vital for engagement and retention. Finally I did also implement a basic form of local multiplayer allowing multiple different players to work together and complete the objective.
